Cosma distressing brushes give wood and plastic surfaces texture, depth and the desired rustic and weathered look. These brushes are used on products such as wooden floors, wall coverings, furniture, decking, garden partitions and veneer.
Steel wire brushes distress both the hard grain and the soft grain whereas nylon abrasive brushes sand away only the soft ‘late wood’ which lies alongside the hard ‘early wood’. Because nylon abrasive brushes leave behind a fully sanded surface, the demand for this type of brush continues to grow.
Grit Size
46 or 60 grit is the most suitable option for the nylon abrasive brushes, but we offer the option of 80 or 120 grit as well.
Types of Shafts
Distressing brushes are supplied either with a fixed shaft and core or with a core and shaft hole to fit your machine.
Working Widths
Working widths range from 50 to 1300 mm with a diameter of 160 mm or more (200 to 220 mm are the most widely used).

Aging wood floorings becomes an easy job with the Cosma nylon-abrasive brushes. By removing the soft grain of the wood with nylon-abrasive the surface gets a unique character and is smoothed and sanded at the same time.
Re-trimming & Refurbishing
Nylon abrasive filament distressing brushes sometimes show an uneven wear pattern because one side of the brush processes more products. We can easily solve this for you by re-trimming the brush, considerably extending its service life. We can also refurbish fixed shaft brushes.
